Bronchitis

Bronchitis

The primary lungs' airways (bronchi) get infected, become irritating, and become inflamed as a result of bronchitis. The primary symptom is a cough that sometimes produces yellow-gray mucus (phlegm). Wheezing and a sore throat may also be symptoms of bronchitis.

Your doctor may need to rule out further lung infections, such pneumonia, which exhibits symptoms similar to bronchitis. Your doctor may order a chest X-ray and collect a sample of your mucus for testing if they suspect pneumonia in you.

A pulmonary function test could also be recommended by your doctor if they suspect you have an unidentified underlying ailment. To measure the amount of air in your lungs, a spirometer will be used during the examination. You will be asked to take a deep inhale and blow into it. Reduced lung function may be a sign of an underlying medical condition.
